Montessori Whisking: A Fun Activity To Teach Children Pre-Writing Skills

Among the galaxy of Montessori practical life activities, I tried to introduce almost all of them to my children before they were ready to go to school. Given this situation, I introduced the Montessori whisking activity to my children while working with them in the kitchen.

A whisk is a kitchen tool used in the kitchen to mix and aerate ingredients such as eggs, cake batter, and many other cooking items.

When used, it produces bubbles, and my children used to get excited to see how the bubbles formed.

As a certified Montessori teacher and a conscious father, I took advantage of their curiosity and started to show them the entire process. Thus, unknowingly, they learned the Montessori whisking activity.

Here’s how I did it:

Montessori Whisking Activity For Toddlers:

My children frequently visited the kitchen to see what I was cooking for them. On a certain day my little daughter saw me mixing eggs with the help of a whisk.

Out of curiosity, she asked,” Look Father, how the bubbles are coming out of the egg yolks”. Promptly I told her,” I know you all love bubbles, would you like to try it? “. She reacted positively. Hence, to make the activity more interesting, I took colored water in a glass bowl and added a squirt of liquid soap.

My next task was to give them a brief description of whisking. Therefore, I told them what a whisk was and how it worked.

After that, I tilted the bowl to show them how I was whisking. Interestingly, bubbles were being formed in front of their eyes. They became excited and asked me to hand over the whisk to them. Then they started to whisk on their own. Finally, my job was done.
